Asanka Edirisinghe

Asanka Edirisinghe

About

My name is Asanka Edirisinghe, and I am currently working as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. My current research work falls within the area of Environmental Law, with a specific focus on less anthropocentric approaches to nature protection, such as legal personhood and the rights of nature. My research endeavours are driven by a deep passion for fostering more pluralistic worldviews and legal frameworks that honour the profound relational values communities hold towards nature, prioritizing nature’s intrinsic worth over mere instrumental utility.
